My Essay Essay

What is Nathaniel Hawthorne's theme of the story and how does this relate to the real world ? I personally believe that there are multiple themes in this story but one that really stuck out to me was that there is as much evil as there is good in a person. This meaning that there are times where people make us think that they are something they're not and only time will allow us to see what someone's intentions really are. As much as we hate to admit it, it's not only in stories where good people also turn out to be evil but this is something that occurs in the real world. For instance at the beginning of the story, "Young Goodman Brown," Brown seems to be full of faith since he his wife Faith was pure and good, but everything changes when he discovers something when he was taking his walk through the forest. The old man with a staff (the devil) that he encounters is trying to make him see that Faith also has evil in her just like everyone else. He loses all t

Read, Talk, and Understand

From the words we used to describe what we feel when we're told to write an essay, I can tell that most of them were negative. Gratitude - acknowledge the courage that we had to speak up about this topic  Expressions were wide So much more in us then what we show in class Management was sympathetic, willing to listen, and keep their promise, the employees but in more effort Trust is key (IMPORTANT) Depression will increase because of anxiety Montaign created a connection between reader and writer Attempt in French means Essay Read and understand an essay People want to know what we're thinking "Stream of Consciousness" Heal and transcend whatever trauma we used to associate with the idea of writing an essay We write best when it's something we love and care about Anxiety Trying to make yourself understood No try when it comes to writing

Literature Analysis

1. The plot of "The Sun is Also a Star" by Nicola Yoon is about this young woman named Natasha who is set to be deported back to Jamaica along with her family, but that same day she has an appointment with an immigration lawyer. There's also Daniel who is a young Korean-American man whose parents want him to become a lawyer. These two meet that same day when Daniel saves Natasha from getting hit by a car and Daniel who believes in fate seems to believe that they were destined to meet. On the contrary, Natasha doesn't believe in any of that but still gives Daniel the chance to get to know each other with the exception that he doesn't fall in love with her since she will be leaving soon. As the day goes by, Daniel confesses to Natasha that he loves her and he even does an experiment with her to make her believe that the chemistry between them is real. Unfortunately at the end of the day, Natasha and Daniel go their own way after they find out she'll be leaving b

I CARE ABOUT YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

I personally feel like most of the time when I write something, it doesn't really make sense and it could because I'm in a rush or I just don't care about what I'm saying. For example, the topics we have to write about in our journals in class don't always have a significance to me so I simply choose to write about it like if I cared but I don't and I don't think I should even bother to write about something that doesn't interest in. For those who even bother to look at my blog, you probably don't even understand anything that I'm saying because most of the time I don't make sense. It's not just in this blog where I don't make sense, but I feel like this is an issue I face everyday in the real world, well in person. I want things to be different but for that to happen I know I'm going to have to put my part in order for things to change for the better good. Especially since I want to become a lawyer or teacher once I'm done wi

The Earth on Turtle's Back

I personally think that the story was really well written and the moral behind it is what really stood out to me. The moral being that you shouldn't underestimate what one is capable of doing because of their sex or size. It's not just in stories where this moral exists, but it's very unfortunate that it also applies to the real world. I simply think that people in general shouldn't have to make the other sex feel like they're less when the truth is that we're all the same and are capable of accomplishing the same things. In this story, something that stuck out to me was that there were many animals who tried to help the "small" muskrat return back to Earth after she fell into the hole. After many attempted to go through the hole, the small female muskrat finally decided to try it herself after seeing that the other animals couldn't. I really enjoyed to see that it was a small female animal who was capable of returning to Earth because that just pr

The Medium is the Message

Transmitter sends the message to get feedback from the receiver The medium is what is standing between you and the thing you are trying to send (accomplish) Watching television doesn't give you feedback Media - channel of communication Don't consider the impact of the receiver It's not always a good idea to say or send everything through social media (the internet) because there are some things that are better to say to someone in person, like important things Medium - +-5% The medium influences the way the message is sent and received Spelling and grammar matters Channel of communication that is used

I Ain't Got Time For This Notes

Earned it, confident, own it knowing they did something by working for it Having a lot of money (1,000,000) doesn't satisfy you since you haven't worked for it Have control over how we spend our 24 hours There are times where we don't feel satisfied with the results but instead we feel frustrated, disappointments, angry. There are a lot of things we do with our time like : Selling Time (outer directed) - homework, school activities, meetings/clubs, and commute work Passing Time (non-directed) - Netflix and video games Giving Time (other directed) - socialize, phone, and cleaning Spending Time (inner directed) - practice and hobbies ~ we invest time on activities that will help us emotionally , physically, and spiritually Biology - sleep, eat, shower, and cleaning  There are a lot of things we don't notice about how we spend our time, like right now I'm taking some time to do this blog and there are a few minutes of my life that I won't get back. For the Win

Something that I have done really well in this course is my journals. There are times where I work good and take my time to think of the topic we're writing about that day and I think deeply but there are also times where I space out and do nothing. I make up the work I don't do in class at home because it's harder for me to concentrate in this class than at home since mostly everyone in this class is always talking. I'm one of those people who gets easily distracted and get off topic but I do my work at home where I don't talk to anyone and get to concentrate more. I need to try to keep up with the blogs because there are times where I don't do them during class and forget to do them at home or simply get too lazy. I need to stop being so lazy and start finishing my work during class so I don't stress at home because I know that if I don't do my work right now (the beginning of the year) then I'm most likely to fail. I've been told that this yea

Today I Was Thinking

Today I was thinking that it is some what important for us to feel relaxed and forget about our other classes when we walk into this class because we need to have a fresh mind in order to really be able to do our work in class. We don't really think about the damage we are causing ourselves when we don't concentrate in one class because we are too busy thinking about the work we did for another class. It;s important for us to have a fresh mind and feel ready to work as soon as we get to our next class. I think that we were discussing in class today was great because we were introduced to mindfulness which is this thing/process where we get the first minute of class to feel relax and then start our journal. To me this is better than just getting to class and right away start working on the journals because there are times where I'm not 100% focused. It's hard for me to concentrate in this class because my 4th period is super boring and I can't transfer that energy in

The Making of an Essay

I'm one of those persons who simply doesn't enjoy writing essays because I find it too stressing and useless. I don't think there's a point in writing an essay because there are times where we are not given enough time and end up doing a horrible job. We shouldn't have to worry about our grade going down when we are told to write an essay, especially if the topic isn't something that interests us. For some of us it's not always easy to come up with the perfect structure or have in mind the order/way we want to write the essay. When I write an essay and I usually come to a conclusion where I don't know what to write about anymore and I simply just write whatever and hope my grade doesn't get affected too much. One thing that hasn't change about the way I write an essay is that I always use the method we were taught since junior high, which is know as the hamburger method.

The First 50 Pages (The Sun is Also a Star)

The first 50 pages I've read from "The Sun is Also a Star" have been good so far and I'm already intrigued by what is going on. I kind of already know what the book is going to be like since I've watched the movie but there are already some things that are sort of different from what I remember from the movie. So far in the book, Natasha (one of the main characters) is trying to help slow down the deportation order her family has otherwise they have to leave to Jamaica that same night. Her family seems to not care about moving since they have all of their things packed up but she doesn't want to leave because she doesn't want to leave her friends and everything behind. She decides to go see her lawyer who at first tells her that they can't do anything and that her family will be getting deported tonight. Before she leaves she has deep conversation with Mr. Barnes (the lawyer) and he tells her that she can come back later to see if anything was done. On

How I Read

I prefer reading at school than at home because I get easily distracted and bored. There are specific books that I have more interest in such as romance novels or thriller. If we are told to read an autobiography or horror novels, I won't be as interested but I would still have to read it. When I get the opportunity to read a book that actually interests me, I try to do my best to stay focus and actually pay attention to what is going on. Like last year we had to read this boring book in English and I didn't understand anything that was going on and when the time came to write the essay, I had to look up a summary for each chapter to understand it. But right before reading that book we read this one story called "Leopard Man" and it was about how people are usually judged based on their appearances. I liked it better than Siddhartha (the book we read before) because there are many examples and problems going on in the world that relate to this story. I have high expec
