What is Nathaniel Hawthorne's theme of the story and how does this relate to the real world ? I personally believe that there are multiple themes in this story but one that really stuck out to me was that there is as much evil as there is good in a person. This meaning that there are times where people make us think that they are something they're not and only time will allow us to see what someone's intentions really are. As much as we hate to admit it, it's not only in stories where good people also turn out to be evil but this is something that occurs in the real world. For instance at the beginning of the story, "Young Goodman Brown," Brown seems to be full of faith since he his wife Faith was pure and good, but everything changes when he discovers something when he was taking his walk through the forest.
