"On Self-Reliance" Part 5
After I finished reading "On Self-Reliance" I feel like there were a couple of lessons that Emerson wanted us to learn. Such as "To be great is to be misunderstood" meaning that sometime when we do things we believe are best for us, there are some people who will not understand nor agree with what we're doing.
At the end of the story he reminds us that being true to ourselves is the best thing one can do. He says "Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but the triumph of principles."
To me this means that we shouldn't always believe in what others say but instead we should stay true to what we believe in, even if it means being seen different.
