Response to "The Socratic Method"

I strongly believe that it's important for the teachers to have a conversation with their students about what they expect their future to be like. It's unfortunate how the student thinks because he believes that having a high status is really important and that it's key to happiness. He's wrong in every way because having a high status shouldn't determine whether you are happy or not. The people who are around you are the ones that make your life good and make you happy and you shouldn't have to depend on having a high status to get you out of suffering or being a loser. The student is caught up with having high achievements and he doesn't see that things would be different if he knew they were going to die tomorrow. I think that the student needs to learn to be more positive about the things that are going on in his life right now than worry about how his future is going to be. He needs to learn to live in the present and worry about the future when the time comes.
