Hack to School Night

1. What is this class about ? This class is about is about how language is key to the way we are understood and talked to. 2. What is the easiest part of this class ? The easiest part of this class is doing a journal everyday. 3. What is the hardest part of this class ? The hardest part of this class is keeping up with all the blogs because you need to make sure you don't get behind. 4. What have you learned so far ? Something I have learned so far is that every teacher does things differently (they have different concepts and teaching techniques). 5. What is your Big Question ? My big question is "what does the future hold for us"?

Now I Remember Richard Cory

The first thing I did to try to memorize the Richard Cory poem was read through the whole thing and try remember some of the words. Then I tried to memorize each stanza, one by one. This method helped me get through most of the poem without forgetting the order in which the words were. It didn't take me long to remember the entire poem but there were still a few words I hadn't memorized and I just went back to those lines/stanzas to try to memorize everything. Although I haven't recorded the video where I read the poem, I have memorized it by now.

Communication Strategies of a Hacker

The Mentor's is repeating the word kids through out the story and he chose to use this word instead of using children, which is a more formal word. The Mentor's tone makes him seem like he is annoyed with what is going on since he keeps using the word damn. The author seems annoyed with the way teachers do things such as if they don't see that you showed your work, you won't get credit and he seems tired of hearing the same things over and over again. The words the mentor decides to use show how inclusive he is because he varies the words he uses instead of simply sticking to the same phrases/words.

Response to "The Socratic Method"

I strongly believe that it's important for the teachers to have a conversation with their students about what they expect their future to be like. It's unfortunate how the student thinks because he believes that having a high status is really important and that it's key to happiness. He's wrong in every way because having a high status shouldn't determine whether you are happy or not. The people who are around you are the ones that make your life good and make you happy and you shouldn't have to depend on having a high status to get you out of suffering or being a loser. The student is caught up with having high achievements and he doesn't see that things would be different if he knew they were going to die tomorrow. I think that the student needs to learn to be more positive about the things that are going on in his life right now than worry about how his future is going to be. He needs to learn to live in the present and worry about the future when the tim

My Big Question

My big question is "What does the future hold for me?" I've always wondered what the future is going to be like and whether or not I'm going to enjoy it. Like is it going to be good or bad ? If there's nothing good in my future, is there really a reason to be alive, not that I'm going to kill myself or anything. I believe we deserve to know what the future holds for us that way we have time to prepare for it just in case it isn't what we expect. By wanting to know what the future holds, we would also learn how this planet is going to be and if it's still going to be here. With all the global warming and climate change going on now, this will also have an influence on the way our lives are in the future. Who knows if we are still going to have the same opportunities we have now in the future, but I guess we have to wait and see what the future holds for us. I truly hope there's nothing bad awaiting for me in the future.

The Right to Your Opinion

What does the right to your opinion truly mean ? To me this means that it's important for you to know your rights because believe it or not we have rights that we don't even know about. We have the right to somethings but there are times where we don't have the right to do other things. For example, there are a few people who believe they have the right to their opinion, but they're wrong. When sharing your opinion in an argument, you are having the effect of stopping the argument because the person who thinks the opposite of you will give you the reason (tell you you're right). Those around us should honor our rights in every way because these rights now set an obligation for them. Some of us believe that using our rights will get us closer to the truth, but we are wrong because what we say is not a fact, instead it is just our opinion on the situation. Personally there are times where I share my opinion because I simply want to fit in or feel accepted but turns ou

Welcome Post

My name is Angela and I'm here to tell you guys a few things about myself. To start off I am a junior at Santa Maria High School and many people have already mentioned to me that this is the hardest school year. This to me means that I'm going to have to do all my work and turn it all in. There is no time to be messing around or doing things that are going to get me off track from graduating and going to a university. I'm not a person who only cares about getting good grades but I like to have fun whenever I'm not at school. During my free time, I enjoy going on walks, listening to music, going to the park, and playing some sports. I am not 100% sure whether or not I'm going to tryout for any sports this year because I don't want to get a little too distracted and let my grades go down. I want this school year to be the best school year but in order to do that I first have to make sure I'm doing good in my classes and then I can mess around and go the games.
